Polly, the address of the Clerid guys is here:

Please send it via regular mail – I don’t think you will need a project number for that.
The beetles that will go to the synoptic collections will be pinned, but don’t do it yet. As we discussed today, we may need to re-organize our collection first. For now, put them all in ethanol. You don’t even have to identify them right now. Sorting the backlog is a higher priority.
Thank you!
amputatus to Rick Hoebeke
Polly, when you have a minute, could you send ONE specimen of Xylosandrus amputatus collected in Georgia to E. R. Hoebeke at the University of Georgia? We already sent him specimens before.

I think the vial is somewhere in the backlog, recently added. Caroline should know more.
Thank you!
Beetles to Australia
Polly,
Two quick questions: do you ever get any Cleridae (checkered beetles, for example Thanasimus) to your traps? We have an Australian colleague who would send us ambrosia beetles if we sent him some clerids. Please let me know.
Second question: would you please put together several (lets say, four) synoptic collections such as those we sent to Uruguay? There are more colleagues who are asking for such a representative collection. Simply: please put together four sets of approximately 20 to 30 species of beetles that are common around here and of which we have lots. Please let me know if you need more input on this.
Thank you!
Jiri
couple of things
Polly,
– Where are we on the return of the pipette? Did I send you the Purchase Order?
– Did you happen to deliver the redbay wood to Jane Medley?
– let’s talk about sorting the freezer (please catch me when I’m in)
– we also need to devise a new design for the BTB trapping with new lures. Essentially,w e will do the same thing again with a new Sirex lure (this one is a turpentine from pines rather than from Eucalyptus, like the first one), except the negative control will be replace with a treatment with as many bags of the old stuff as possible (David thinks the old ones may have had low release rate).
reared beetles
Polly, about once a week, could you check for any emerging beetles in rearing boxes in the storage room (the old walk-in fridge)? If there are any, please put them in ethanol and record them in database.
Thank you!
Jiri
send box to Uruguay
Polly, thanks for labeling all the beetles in the little cardboard box. Please pack up the box carefully in some kind of a padded envelope or a small box, and send them to this address (regular mail):
Dr. Demian Gomez
Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA)
Ruta 5 km 386
C.P.45000
Tacuarembó
Uruguay
Tel+ 598 4 632 2407 int 1311
Ask Mrs. Cindy Love downstairs how to send this kind of stuff, I don’t think we pay for it if it’s just regular mail.

Put together a selection of common bark and ambrosia species from this area (pinned). No more to 3 specimens per species, no more than 10 or 15 species total. This is for our international collaborators – they will send us specimens from their regions.
